How to ID a SCSI drive

All SCSI devices have in the back of the drive locations to plug in the power and the SCSI cable. Usually to the left of the cable you will see several small jumper blocks (like the ones on the photo above). You will notice to the far left SCSI ID and three jumper blocks. These are here to set up ID'S 0 through 6. This is accomplished in the following manner.
ID 0 no jumpers on any of the pins
ID 1 Jumper on the first pin only (like the one in the photo)
ID 2 jumper on the second pin only
ID 3 jumpers on the first and second pins
ID 4 jumper on the third jumper only
ID 5 jumpers on the first and third pins
ID 6 jumpers on the second and third pins
The only jumpers you should concern yourself with are the ID's and Termination. DO NOT PLACE JUMPER PINS ON ANY OTHER JUMPER BLOCKS.
If you received a tower and you do not have any terminator on the outside of the tower, you can terminate the tower using the last drive (this is the drive with the highest id) in the chain. You will notice on the far right there is a jumper called "Termination" place a jumper pin there, and now you have now successfully terminated the SCSI chain.
Take a moment to examine the other drives and make sure that only the last drive in the chain has termination on it.
